Police are looking for a driver who hit and killed a bicyclist in Escondido.
A 36-year-old Vista resident was pronounced dead at the scene when officers arrived to the 1600 block of La Honda Drive on Saturday, Escondido Police Department Lt. Scott Walters said.
The bicyclist, who will not be identified until family is notified, was traveling southbound on La Hondan Drive with a group of other bicyclists when he was hit head-on by a car, Walters said.
The vehicle fled the scene but was later found abandoned with severe damage on the 600 block of Aster Street, Walters said.

The car is described to be a dark-colored Toyota sedan. Police are still looking for the suspect.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor.
Access to Dixon Lake and Daley Ranch Recreation Areas were closed during the investigation.
