Escondido Police Officer Arrested for Allegedly Being Drunk in Public

Lawrence Love, 44, was arrested at a business in Temecula for allegedly being intoxicated in public, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and Temecula Police Department

An officer with the Escondido Police Department was arrested this week just north of San Diego County for allegedly being drunk in public and resisting arrest, officials confirmed.

Lawrence Love, 44, was arrested at 1:35 a.m. on Feb. 11 at a business in the 27400-block of Jefferson Avenue in Temecula, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and Temecula Police Department said.

According to a joint statement released by the agencies, police officers responded to a report of a “possible drunken male” at a business and found Love intoxicated. Love was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in the city of Murrieta.

Jail booking records show Love was released from custody that same day after posting bail. He is facing two misdemeanor counts for the alleged incident and is scheduled to appear in a Murrieta courtroom on April 3.

Lt. Chris Lick with the Escondido Police Department told NBC 7 Love is a 10-year veteran of the department and remains employed by the agency. The lieutenant said the department cannot comment further on Love’s case “because it is a personnel matter.”

No further details were released.
