Two people were taken to the hospital after a two-car crash on a busy Encanto street sent one vehicle into a hydrant, leaving water gushing onto the street.
The 6500 block of Imperial Avenue, near 65th Street, was shut down for the time being as crews work to repair the damage leftover from the crash, according to police.
Around 5:03 p.m. Wednesday, a Mercedes and a Nissan collided, police said.
Leonardo Leon, who witnessed the crash, said one of the cars being rolling around after the crash. At one point, he was afraid the car would crash into him.
"It was scary, a little bit. I thought it was coming down this way," Leon said.
The impact caused one car to smash into a fire hydrant on the corner of the intersection. Water could be seen rushing down the street in several directions in footage from the NBC 7 Newschopper.
"Lots and lots of water. It was about 2-feet until they fixed it," Leon said.
Two people were taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
