Economic Future Looks Promising for San Diego Business Owners: Survey

Sixty-four percent of local business owners surveyed believe there will be improvement in their industries

For most business owners in San Diego, the economic glass is half full according to a new survey released by the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Last quarter only 58-percent of businesses surveyed thought they would see an improvement in their industries.

That number jumped to 64-percent according to the March survey.

Alan Lane, president and CEO of Silvergate Bank which sponsors the San Diego County Business Forecast, said the results are promising.

β€œWith the exception of business consulting and staffing firms, nearly all other business sectors show steady confidence or an increase in optimism for the next quarter,” Lane said in a news release.

As for issues concerning local business owners, an increase in the minimum wage and government taxes are paramount.

Information for the report was gathered by researchers February 13-25 with help from 213 randomly-selected members, according to the chamber’s release.
