The accident happened at East Vista Way and Anza Avenue just after noon Wednesday; the infant wasn’t hurt

A mother walking a crosswalk while pushing her 6-month-old baby in a stroller was hit by a driver in Vista Wednesday, authorities said.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department (SDSO), the accident happened at around 12:10 p.m. at the intersection of East Vista Way and Anza Avenue.

The mother – who’s 35 years old – was walking with her infant eastbound in the crosswalk across East Vista Way. At the same time a driver traveling eastbound on Anza Way made a right turn at the intersection, striking the woman and knocking her to the ground.

The SDSO said the baby was not hurt.

The mother was taken to Palomar Hospital with unspecified but serious injuries.

Deputies said the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with officials. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
