Armed Robbers Wanted for East County Muggings

A group of armed robbers are wanted for two muggings in the El Cajon and La Mesa area in the early morning hours of Friday, police said.

A man was robbed about a half mile from his work on the 4600 block of Palm Avenue near Finley just after midnight Friday La Mesa Police said.

Four men with bandanas covering their faces rounded a corner, two with guns drawn making a demand, investigators said.

The victim’s cell phone and clothes he had in a computer case were stolen.

Police believe the same criminals may be responsible for a similar crime in El Cajon around 2 a.m.

"That’s so sketchy,” said La Mesa resident Jessica Williams. “But when I close and I have to walk home at night now, I’m probably not going to be by myself anymore.”

Two of the suspects in the La Mesa robbery were described as wearing all black clothing, one was wearing jeans, another shorts. It’s believed they’re about 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches and around 16 to 20 years old.

Two similar robberies happened last month in La Mesa, according to police. But investigators don’t believe they’re related to these latest crimes.
