Stranded Driver Struck in Highway Hit-and-Run

The man was struck on northbound Interstate 805 at University Avenue in North Park

A driver with car trouble on a San Diego-area interstate was struck by a passing car and left injured in the roadway. Now, the California Highway Patrol is looking for the driver involved in the hit-and-run crash.

The victim’s car broke down on the southbound side of Interstate 805 at University Avenue in North Park around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Investigators say the man crossed the freeway into the northbound lanes where he was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

Another passing driver called CHP to report the crash.

When officers arrived, there was no sign of the driver or the vehicle that hit the man.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with what’s described as major injuries officials said.
