Part pet party, part adoption event, the 8th annual Doggie Street Festival took over NTC Park at Liberty Station on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event also served as an adopt-a-thon for dogs and cats, as more than 25 animal rescue organizations from across San Diego County gathered to help find forever homes for furry friends.

The Doggie Street Festival is organized by Jude Artenstein, a San Diego-based filmmaker and creator of the “Pet Lounge” TV series. Artenstein was involved in an accident and during her recovery, her dog never left her side. She started the event to help pups in need.
