Del Mar Racetrack Announces 2018 Summer Concerts

Ice Cube, Aloe Blacc, Matisyahu and others fill out Del Mar Racetrack’s 2018 summer concert lineup

Summer's heating up! On Wednesday morning, the Del Mar Racetrack announced its 2018 summer concert series lineup -- and it's sure to delight music fans all over town. The scenic track, situated "where the turf meets the surf," is set to play host to some of music's biggest names during the coming months.

The annual concert season kicks off on Friday, July 20, with '80s New Wave/post-punk icons the Psychedelic Furs. The very next night, the track goes reggae with San Diego favorites Iration. The month is rounded out on July 27 by Steel Pulse -- who, with their frequent performances in town, seem to have made America's Finest City their home away from home.

August holds even more in store as summer hits full swing. Reggae-rock/pop star Matisyahu headlines on Aug. 3, while Aug. 10 boasts soul-pop star Aloe Blacc. Positive vibes continue to be pumped out on Saturday, Aug. 11, as Reggae Fest hits the stage headlined by Ziggy Marley himself.

Americana/soul rocker Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats take over on Aug. 17, followed by San Diego Music Award-winning Tribal Seeds on Saturday, Aug. 24. Latin rockers Cafe Tacvba cap off the month with a performance scheduled for Aug. 31.

And last but definitely not least (and as we reported Tuesday), the Del Mar Racetrack goes big with its huge Sept. 2 finale -- rap/actor superstar Ice Cube! "It was a good day," indeed.

All concerts take place after the last races of the day and are always free for patrons of the track. Otherwise, tickets are $30 if fans get there after the last race has occurred. For more information, please visit dmtc.com
