A brush fire was reported just before 1 p.m. on northbound Interstate 15 approximately a mile south of Deer Springs Road.
The fire, described as 30 yards wide, was extinguished as of 1:20 p.m., San Diego County sheriff's deputies said.
The California Highway Patrol closed the right lane of northbound I-15 at El Norte to traffic to give fire crews room to mop up the fire.
A SigAlert was issued at 1:25 and expected to last two hours.
βA lot of people believe the higher humidity means no fires but the critical fuel measures are so low, at 60 percent which is a critical level right now, you get one little start, youβre going to have a growing fire,β said Cal Fire Battalion Chief Nick Brown.
No structures were damaged.
