Deadly Shooting Reported in Barrio Logan

A woman was shot and killed on Harbor Drive in Barrio Logan Friday night after an altercation took place, San Diego police confirmed.

Police received a call reporting a woman was shot at 2400 Harbor Drive near just after 9 p.m, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Officials found an unconscious woman on the sidewalk near a vehicle. She had sustained at least one gunshot wound to her torso. She was taken to a local hospital and was later pronounced dead, according to SDPD.

The victim has been described as a 36-year-old woman who was a resident of National City. Police have identified the victim but her name is being withheld until family is notified.

Detectives have learned the victim was driven to Harbor Drive after being shot near a pizza restaurant at 1000 Dewet St. Police say the person who drove her said he and the victim were involved in a fight with a man and a woman.

After the fight ended and the victim was getting into her car when an unknown suspect shot the victim. The suspect is described as a man in his mid-20s, 5-foot-8, with a medium build, wearing a light-colored shirt and dark pants.

Witnesses said they heard yelling coming from the nearby park followed by at least three or four gunshots.
