Splendor Bids San Diego Goodbye

The Carnival Splendor sets sail for San Francisco.

The Carnival Splendor is finally headed to sea again.

The fire-damaged cruise ship sailed out of San Diego Friday heading for dry dock  in San Francisco where it will undergo more repairs.

The Splendor was scheduled to leave more than once this week, but its departure was postponed to give the crew more time to prepare.

It's been docked in San Diego for the last two months. The Splendor originally lost power when fire broke out in its engine room last November.

Passengers were stranded at sea for three days with no air conditioning and no hot food. Tug boats had to pull the crippled ship into San Diego Bay.
