A brush fire broke out along the westbound lanes of Interstate 8, billowing smoke in Mission Valley Tuesday morning, confirmed San Diego Fire-Rescue.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) received calls about flames and smoke in the area just before 9:30 a.m. A tree appeared to have caught fire, according to the initial reports.
When crews arrived on scene, they found a one-alarm fire that spread to surrounding shrubbery and some trash.
Crews are working to put out the flames. No injuries have been reported. There was no further information immediately available.
