A 32-year-old man was killed in Mission Hills Thursday night after being hit by a car on a busy street.
The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) said the victim was crossing on foot, east to west, at 1700 W. Washington St. just before 11:15 p.m. Just then, a 32-year-old driver in a 2016 Buick Encore was driving southbound on Washington Street. Police said the pedestrian walked into the lane and was hit by the Buick.
The pedestrian suffered severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital where he died a short time later. His name has not yet been released.
The driver cooperated with police and there were no arrests. Investigators said alcohol or drugs were not suspected to have contributed to the deadly crash.
W. Washington Street was shut down in both directions while police gathered evidence at the crash site. No one else was hurt.
