Fire crews quickly contained a small brush fire that burned along Interstate 8 in El Cajon Thursday afternoon.
Officials said they received reports of smoke coming from trees located on the right shoulder of the I-8, near West Main Street, at about 11:30 a.m.
Arriving crews discovered a small brush fire in the area and were able to fully contain the blaze just after 12 p.m.
The fire burned about a quarter-acre of brush.
A traffic advisory was issued and crews were said to be on standby as a precaution.
There have been no reports of structural damage.
