New details emerged Tuesday about the deadly crash of a small plane at Marine Corps Station Miramar earlier this month.
A couple from Burbank was killed when their Piper Comanche crashed on April 11.
The plane began to come apart as the pilot lost control, and the aircraft started to drop, according to investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board. The findings are consistent with a witness who said debris fell from the sky. On Tuesday, officials confirmed that the debris was, in fact, pieces of the aircraft.
The plane took off from Whiteman Airport near Los Angeles and was headed for Brown Field.
