Coronado Teen Found in Middle of Road After Skateboarding Accident: PD

An injured skateboarder was found lying in the middle of the roadway following a skateboarding accident, Coronado Police said.

The incident happened at approximately 12:35 p.m. Thursday on the 900 block of Tenth Street in Coronado when police responded to a 911 call, police said.

When officers arrived on scene, they spoke to witnesses who said the skateboarder, a 17-year-old teen, was holding onto the side of a car as it drove 20 to 30 miles per hour eastbound on Tenth Street.

The skateboarder lost control and fell backwards, away from the car, police said.

Police said it appears the teen driver and his passengers knew the victim.

At the time of the accident, he was not wearing a helmet, police said.

Paramedics took the teen to a San Diego-area hospital.

The 900 block of Tenth Street was closed for approximately three hours as police investigated.

No other information was immediately available.
