Coronado Police Actively Searching for Burglary Suspect

Police arrested a suspected burglar in Point Loma on Sunday who attempted to evade police by changing clothing as officers searched for him.

Coronado police first spotted Nicklas Paul Jorgensen, 40, with a $1,000 stolen bike and attempted to stop him but Jorgensen took off.

At one point during their search, the suspect was spotted hiding under a house, police said. Jorgensen then took off again and allegedly broke into a home where he changed his clothes.

He again fled and could not be located. After an all-day search, CPD enlisted the help of the San Diego Police Department.

Jorgensen's was eventually located and arrested at the Loma Lodge Motel in Point Loma. His car was found with other stolen items inside, police said.

He faces burglary charges and may incur additional charges as the investigation continues, police said. Jorgensen is being held on $50,000 bail.

He is schedule to appear in Chula vista court on Wednesday.
