Fans Line up for Comic-Con 2012

Dozens are already lined up outside the San Diego Convention Center

Comic-Con 2012 doesn’t open until Wednesday 6 p.m. for Preview Night but that hasn’t stopped San Diego native Roberta Curry from getting in line.

The Comic-Con fan started camping out Sunday at 8 a.m. for the “Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2” panel that is scheduled to take place at 12:45 p.m. Thursday in Hall H.

“We are really, really big fans,” she said.

“We wanted to get a really good seat and we wanted to see the actors rather than looking up at a screen to see the actors.”

The actors are, of course, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, who have been greeted with screams and cheers at previous Comic-Con appearances.

She and her fellow Twihards weren’t alone for long. Another group of fans showed up Sunday evening around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Security wasn’t excited to have them here, she said, but they have been looking out for them. They moved the line off the lawn while setup continued for the annual convention that's expected to draw huge crowds to the convention center beginning Thursday.

There are no tents or inflatables allowed so Curry said she spent her first night with a sleeping bag and a blanket on the ground.

In fact, Comic-Con's official Twitter account asked fans politely not to line up for Hall H just yet.

Curry, who doesn’t dress up like many other Comic-Con convention-goers, said she thinks Comic-Con is amazing and is looking forward to see other stars like those for “Fringe” and “Game of Thrones.”

“I love watching the city kind of come to life for Comic-Con,” she said. “It’s great.”
