Watch for detour signs this weekend as Caltrans is planning on several closures on San Diego’s highways.
This could affect the time it takes to travel along Interstate 5 near La Jolla or State Route 52 near MCAS Miramar or State Route 94 as Caltrans workers will be doing repairs on these major routes.
The eastbound SR-94 connector to southbound State Route 125 will close Saturday from 3 a.m. to 8 p.m. for pavement repair. Drivers should follow detour signs, Caltrans officials advise.
All lanes of westbound SR-52 between State Route 163 and Interstate 805 will be closed Saturday from 8 p.m. to Sunday at 2 p.m. to repair pavement dips.
Along with the westbound lanes, the connector ramps from northbound and southbound Interstate 15 and SR-163 and the Kearny Villa Road on-ramp to westbound SR-52 will also be closed, Caltrans said.
Then on Sunday, Caltrans will close the north and southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near the Gilman Drive Bridge as part of its project to build the Mid Coast Trolley line.
The closures will last from 9:30 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, Caltrans officials said.
Southbound I-5 will be closed to traffic from the I-5/I-805 split to La Jolla Village Drive.
Local
Cars will not be able to use northbound I-5 from La Jolla Village Drive to Voigt Drive.
Travelers heading south on I-5 will see detour signals moving them onto southbound I-805 at the split. Those people traveling north will see the detour signs at Interstate 8, SR-51 and La Jolla Village Drive.
