‘Claim Your Money': SD County Treasurer Has $441K in Unclaimed Refunds

Refunds range from $10 to $22,720 -- the highest being equivalent to nearly 7,000 California burritos, the TTC said

Are you missing some money? County Treasurer Dan McAllister has $441,000 that belongs to San Diego County taxpayers, his office announced Thursday.

Anyone who has done business with a county department may have money in their name, the County Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office (TTC) said.

Refunds range from $10 to $22,720 -- the highest being equivalent to nearly 7,000 California burritos or nearly 500 tanks of gas, according to the TTC.

There are two lists to check -- a countywide unclaimed money list and an unclaimed property tax refunds list. Both can be found here

The TTC said anyone who finds they are owed money should file a refund claim by Sept. 7, or the money will be rolled into the county's general fund.

Countywide money unclaimed for three years and property tax refunds unclaimed for four years must be turned over to the general fund, according to California law.

Refund claims can be made through email to refunds@sdcounty.ca.gov or, for help, call (877) 829-4732.
