City Launches Website to Track Government Performance

The city of San Diego has launched a website to allow easier tracking of government performance in areas from infrastructure to public safety.

The dashboard, at performance.sandiego.gov, was unveiled Wednesday.

Called PerformSD, the site displays data related to recreation and culture, public safety, infrastructure, sustainability, transportation and mobility, economy and finance, civic engagement, communication and customer service via charts and graphs with the goal of making the metrics easier to understand.

In a statement, Mayor Kevin Faulconer said the tool is the latest in a string of efforts by the city to “expand transparency and invite community engagement” via technology.

The site was built by the city’s Performance and Analytics Department.

“It’s difficult and cumbersome to find good data on the performance of government, and PerformSD is a great step in making the information available to the public in a user-friendly and consumable way,” said Haney Hong, president and CEO of the San Diego County Taxpayers Association, in the city’s statement about the project.
