When the Chargers started training camp in 2014 they had plenty of questions about their defensive line. At the start of this year's camp, that same unit had plenty of answers.
The additions of Mitch Unrein (free agent from Denver) the drafting of Darius Philon (6th round out of Arkansas) and the return of Ryan Carrethers (rookie who earned a starting spot before an elbow injury ended his season early) gave hope that the unit would have enough depth to make in impact in 2015.
That depth took a blow on Saturday. On the first full-pads practice of the year defensive tackle Tenny Palepoi suffered a broken foot. He's expected to miss at least a couple of months. However, he may also be a candidate for season-ending Injured-Reserve.
Palepoi made the team last year as an undrafted free agent from Utah and turned himself in to a valuable rotational player. He was active for all 16 games and finished the season with 16 tackles. He was expected to be back in the mix for playing time in the middle of the Chargers line.
