Chargers Sign Saints Cornerback Patrick Robinson

The Chargers have signed New Orleans Saints cornerback Patrick Robinson, the team announced on Thursday.

Robinson, who was a first-round pick for the Saints, signed a one-year contract with the Chargers.

The move comes as the Chargers aim to strengthen the secondary; the team has already secured cornerback Brandon Flowers and safety Jimmy Wilson.

Robinson joined the Saints in 2010. In 58 games there, he recorded 185 tackles, 46 passes defended and nine interceptions.

The cornerback has struggled with a knee injury in the past. But he worked hard at his rehabilitation and was named the Saints’ 2014 Ed Block Courage Award winner for recovering quickly after rupturing a patella tendon in week 2 of the 2013 season.

Adding Robinson is the Chargers’ 10th roster move during the free agency period.
