Jurors May Visit Site of Carlsbad School Shooting

Brendan O'Rourke is accused in the October 2010 shooting at Kelly Elementary School

A judge heard arguments about what jurors will see and hear in the trial of the man accused of shooting children at a Carlsbad school.

Brendan Liam O'Rourke, 42, is charged with seven counts of attempted murder and assault with a firearm. He has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

O'Rourke jumped a fence at Kelly Elementary carrying a .357 magnum, pockets full of ammunition and a gas can on Oct. 8, 2010 during recess time and fired into the crowd of children.

No one was killed, thanks, in part, to the heroic actions of several men.

On Wednesday, prosecutors and defense attorneys met with Judge Aaron Katz to discuss a possible tour of Kelly Elementary according to our media partner the North County Times.

The paper reported the judge will issue a decision after considering the request.

O'Rourke faces 103 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
