Four people were taken into custody after a high speed chase ended in Carlsbad.
The California Highway Patrol said those detained will likely face felony evading charges in a chase that reached speeds up to 110 miles per hour.
The chase started with a stop sign violation on Hotel Circle west of Interstate 8.
But instead of pulling over, the driver led officers through Hillcrest, Downtown, and up Interstate 5, officials said.
When the driver finally stopped, officers say he abandoned the car. He didn’t get far on foot because a police helicopter spotted him.
He and three passengers were taken into custody.
Officers say that at one point during the chase, the suspect vehicle backed into a CHP cruiser. Because of that, officers say they will seek assault with a deadly weapon charges.

No officers were injured but they were led on quite the chase.
CHP says it will be questioning each of the passengers to determine their relationship to the driver and their role in what happened.
