Drugs Seized from Boat in Carlsbad

Agents said they found illegal drugs aboard the boat

Three suspects are under arrest after a drug boat was discovered in Carlsbad.

The Carlsbad police department got a call around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday reporting a boat on the sand near Tamarack and Carlsbad Boulevard.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents say they found 19 bundles of drugs aboard the boat.

The discovery of panga boats along San Diego's shoreline is not new.

In October, agents found one person dead and arrested 14 suspected illegal immigrants when they noticed a vessel coming ashore in Pacific Beach.

In May, Carlsbad police officers spotted a panga-style boat near Ponto Beach on April 29 and arrested four men.

Two boats were discovered within hours of each other in February. One came ashore near the mouth of the Tijuana River while another panga boat dropped 17 people on a Camp Pendleton area beach.
