Carjacking, Kidnapping and Killing Connected: Police

A man recovering in the hospital from serious injuries suffered in a car crash is at the center of a bizarre chain of events that include a family fight, a kidnapping, a carjacking and the killing of a woman whose body was found in a parked car.

Officers first got involved Monday evening when they were called to a home on Z Street in Southcrest where the resident told them his 28-year old son had threatened him with a gun.

Several blocks away, at 45th and Logan Avenue, San Diego police officers spotted a man yelling for help. He told officers he had been carjacked and had managed to get out of the car.

The suspect in both reports was identified as Terry Sayachak, according to police.

Officers say when they spotted Sayachak driving the stolen car, they tried to pull him over but he fled and crashed into a parked car on South 46th Street. Sayachak survived but was sent to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

When officers searched the neighborhood for Sayachek’s original car, they found it parked one street over on Elizabeth Street. Inside, officers report that they found the body of a woman in the passenger seat with a gunshot wound to the head. Police have identified the woman as Sayachek's girlfriend.

If Sayachak recovers from his injuries, he’ll face charges of murder, two counts of kidnapping, one count of carjacking and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
