Car “Split in Half” in Fatal Oceanside Crash

One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a crash in Oceanside Wednesday night.

The accident happened at 6:31 p.m. in the 4,000-block of Oceanside Boulevard.

Oceanside police told NBC 7 that an Acura Integra veered off the road and struck a palm tree, splitting the car half.

Police say the car kept going and crashed in a Nissan Sentra.

According to police, the passenger in the Integra was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, who was ejected from the vehicle, was flown by Mercy Air to Scripps La Jolla.

Police have not released the driver’s name, but say he is in his 20s. He is being interviewed at the hospital.

Police will now try to determine how fast the Integra was going and if the driver was under the influence.

“The driver is looking at possible vehicular manslaughter charges, depending on the outcome of our investigation,” Sgt. Gabe Jimenez said.

The two people in the Sentra suffered non-life threatening injuries.
