13-Year-Old Rammed by Car Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries in Logan Heights

A 13-year-old boy crossing the street in Logan Heights suffered life-threatening injuries when a car struck him, San Diego police said.

The collision took place shortly before 7 a.m. when a 25-year-old man was driving eastbound on Ocean View Boulevard, police said.

As he drove toward 32nd Street, he struck the boy, who was crossing the street at the time, said police.

Once paramedics arrived, they found the boy unconscious but still breathing, said police.

After the collision, the boy was taken to Rady Children's Hospital, SDPD Officer Billy Hernandez said.

At this point, the crash does not appear to be DUI or drug related, SDPD Police Sgt. Robert McDonald said.

The child's parents have been notified, police said. It was unclear where the boy was walking in the intersection.

No further information was immediately available.
