Dehesa Fire Burned 150 Acres

The Dehesa fire burned 150 acres Sunday and got close to three homes and an elementary school, Cal Fire officials said.

The vegetation fire started around 6 p.m. at Dehesa Road near Sycuan Summit Drive near Singing Hills Golf Resort in El Cajon.

The fire was first reported as two acres by Cal Fire with a moderate rate spread but as of 7 p.m. the fire had spread to a 50-acre fire.

Three homes were evacuated as a precaution, but no homes were initially threatened. No evacuation warnings or orders were issued, officials said.

By 8:10 p.m. the spread of the fire had been stopped. No structures were burned but the Dehesa Fire did get close to three homes and an elementary school.

Dehesa Rd. will have one lane opened to the public for the rest of the night, officials said.
