Brush Fire Sparks in Lakeside

According to CAL FIRE, the fire started on southbound SR67 just before 11 a.m.

Firefighters containED a brush fire that sparked on southbound SR67 near Slaughterhouse Canyon just before 11 a.m. Sunday.

CAL FIRE officials said the fire burned within a quarter of an acre.

By 11:07 a.m. more CAL FIRE units were on their way to the scene from Lakeside to contain the fire before it spread any further.

Authorities blocked off the second lane of southbound SR67 and issued a traffic alert while firefighters worked on containing the flames.

The traffic alert was lifted around 12 p.m.

Authorities said they would remain at the scene for a few more hours extinguishing what was left of the fire.

No injuries were reported.

CAL FIRE also said no structures had been threatened by the fire.
