Crews responded to a brush fire reportedly burning underneath a freeway interchange in Old Town.
The fire broke out underneath the I-8 to I-5 interchange just before 5:30 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
SkyRanger 7 arrived overhead about 20 minutes later and the flames had already been extinguished. Minutes later, freeway lanes were reopned.
