Small Brush Fire Threatens Homes in Paradise Hills

Multiple fire agencies battled a small brush fire that threatened at least three homes in National City Monday afternoon.

The fire started at around 4:45 p.m. in a creek bed behind a home on the 2200 block of Rachel Avenue northwest of the intersection of Interstate 805 and State Route 54.

The National City Fire Department (NCFD) responded to the scene and was assisted by the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department (SDFD) and the Chula Vista Fire Department (CVFD).

Firefighters knocked the blaze down at around 5:15 p.m. The fire only grew to about a quarter acre, according to NCFD.

No firefighters or residents were injured, and nobody was displaced. NCFD said property fences may have been damaged but no damage was done to the threatened homes.
