Two small brush fire was burning on the side of northbound Interstate 15 Monday, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department said.
The first fire was less than 1 acre at the intersection of I-15 and State Route 52, SDFD spokesperson Mónica Muñoz said.
The second was a 3-acre fire just north of Miramary Way, also on northbound I-15. The fire partially spread to the property of MCAS Miramar and Miramar Fire Department assisted, according to Muñoz.
CalTrans said the right lane of northbound I-15 was blocked around the Miramar Way exit.
SDFD first responded to reports of the brush fire around 3:30 p.m.
The forward rate of progress was stopped at 4:18 p.m., SDFD said.
No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged.
SDFD Metro Arson Strike Team were called to the scene to determine what started the fires, Muñoz added.
