Small Brush Fire Burns in Julian

A small brush fire burned on State Route 78 in Julian Tuesday, officials confirmed.

The blaze first sparked around 12:45 p.m. in the 28300-block of SR-78 just west of State Route 79, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

By about 3 p.m., Cal Fire officials reported that firefighters had stopped the forward spread of the blaze, which was holding at three acres. The fire burned in light fuels.

No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported in the fire, Cal Fire officials said.

Initially, the brush fire burned in 15 mph winds, according to the sheriff's department. At least two engines initally responded to the scene, as well as aircraft. Officials expected to have a handle on the fire shortly after it sparked.
