Ten people are temporarily without a place to stay after a broken fire hydrant flooded their East Village homes Saturday evening.
According to San Diego Police, a white Suburban was driving on G St. around 5:50 p.m. when it t-boned the passenger side of a Toyota Corolla driving on 17th St.
The crash sent the car flying into the hydrant.
The geyser that shot up from the ground was powerful enough to suspend the back end of the car in the air.
The water gushed out and flooded the roadway. That stream made its way into six homes nearby.
The Red Cross helped the ten displaced people find a place to stay for the night while the water is drained from their homes and damage repaired.
