What could be better than a Sunday at the beach? What if you threw in soccer? Thousands enjoyed both this weekend at the third annual Southern California Beach Soccer Championships held in Oceanside.
About 300 teams signed up to compete on a 30 x 40 yard section of sand. No need for shoes in this game but you will need to be fit. It’s played at a faster pace than your normal Saturday soccer game. Players make an average of 65 shots and often get the score up into the double digits.
The two-day Oceanside tournament is reportedly the largest on the West Coast and the second largest in the world, according to the North County Times.
