Brewers Blank Padres 1-0

The Padres came into Friday nightโ€™s game in Milwaukee having not surrendered a run in 23 straight innings. But all good things must come to an end.

Milwaukee starting pitcher Junior Guerra shut out the Padres on just two-hits over six innings. A trio of relief pitchers combined for three scoreless innings of one-hit ball to lockdown Guerraโ€™s second win of the season.

In his Padres debut Christian Friedrich pitched well enough to deserve another start. The 28 year old left-hander who was called up from Triple-A El Paso went six innings giving up just one run on a career high 116 pitches. He did have some command trouble surrendering six walks, one of which was intentional.

The only run of the game came in the first. Domingo Santana got things started with a single to left for the Brewers. Jonathan Villar walked before Ryan Braun flied out to deep right moving both runners into scoring position. Jonathan Lucry walked to load the bases for Chris Carter who hit a sacrifice fly to center scoring Santana.

Brewers won 1-0; itโ€™s the ninth time this season the Padres have been shut out.

Luis Perdomo will make his first major league start tomorrow for San Diego. Wily Peralta goes for the Brewers.
