The Chargers are having issues with another first round Draft pick. And his mom.
Defensive end Joey Bosa, the 3rd overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, has been at odds with the Bolts front office over the structure of his contract and is currently holding out of training camp. Bosa is the only player drafted in 2016 that has yet to sign his deal.
The Chargers have not spoken to Bosa’s agent Tom Condon in more than a week and reports have been trickling out that the team is offering him LESS money than players taken after him. We know that the Chargers have been balking on when bonuses will be paid out, trying to push them back to years three and four of the deal while Bosa wants more up front.
Meanwhile, two distinct camps have formed among Chargers fans, some supporting the team and others supporting the player. On Sunday Bosa’s mother invoked the name that draws the ire of all San Diego football fans. The story started circulating due to a report on SD Bolt Report.
In a conversation on Facebook, Cheryl Bosa wrote to a friend who was showing support for her son: “It bums me out for him so much. Wish we pulled an Eli Manning on draft day.”
