Police Arrest Man Accused of Exposing Himself to Student Near Bell Middle School

School resource officers arrested a man Friday accused of grabbing a girl walking to school and exposing himself to her, the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) said.

The female student told staff at Bell Middle School in Paradise Hills that the man chased her, grabbed her and then exposed himself to her. She was able to break free and run to campus and police were immediately notified, the district said.

San Diego police were searching a canyon near the campus by land and air where the man was believed to be hiding following the incident, according to an officer at the scene.

The 26-year-old suspect was eventually found at a nearby fast-food restaurant and taken into custody by SDUSD Police Department officers at around 12:50 p.m.

He was booked at county jail on charges of sexual battery, indecent exposure, false imprisonment and annoying or molesting a child.

Classes at the school were not affected.
