Drive-By Shooting Targets SDPD Detectives in Barrio Logan

As of 10:50 p.m., two people were detained and one suspect was still outstanding.

Detectives working in Barrio Logan were shot at from a passing vehicle Tuesday night, setting off a freeway pursuit that came to a stop near Otay Mesa, the San Diego Police Department confirmed.

SDPD said Vice Unit detectives were the targets of a drive-by shooting near the 3500 block of Main Street at around 9:30 p.m. No detectives were struck by gunfire.

Shots came from a black Chrysler 300 and the car fled on southbound Interstate 5, SDPD Lt. Mike Ramsay said. Police followed the car on westbound State Route 905, then eastbound and back westbound. 

The pursuit came to a stop near Caliente Boulevard in Otay Mesa where a man and a woman stepped out of the vehicle and were detained. Their identities were not disclosed. 

SDPD confirmed one suspect was still outstanding.

Police were seen investigating a dark-colored Chrysler 300 on the shoulder of the freeway.

Freeway traffic was closed in both directions west of Britannia Boulevard and was reopened at around 10:30 p.m.
