Attempted Rape Reported at UCSD

Incident occurred at an on-campus dorm

On Saturday, UCSD Police released a computer-generated sketch of a man who they said attempted to rape a female student inside a dorm on campus Friday .

The suspect entered the residence of a student living in Warren College, an on-campus housing community, and assaulted the victim around 2 a.m., said UCSD police.

The victim allegedly then struggled with the man, who fled the scene in an unknown direction.

After the incident, UCSD Police sent an email to all students, staff and faculty early Friday urging them to “be on alert.” University officials are currently investigating the incident and it's unclear whether or not the suspect was a student.

The man was described as being in his 20s, short and wearing dark baggy pants and a thick long sleeve shirt at the time of the incident.

According to UCSD’s most recent crime statistics, in 2009, there were four forcible sex offences and one non-forcible sex offence on campus.
