ATM site draws trash deposits

At the Bank of America branch on Mission Road, a functioning ATM and security camera are surrounded by shoulder-high weeds, boarded-up windows and piles of household trash, reports the North County Times.

Neighbors have complained about the eyesore, and San Marcos officials say they've struggled to enforce weed and nuisance regulations at the site. Meanwhile, the property owners say they're victims of illegal dumping, and have made regular, but futile efforts to remove garbage from the site.

"We are being criminally trespassed against," said Marguerite Benward, administrative manager for Twin Development, LLC, a Carlsbad-based real estate development firm that owns the bank property on 1210 East Mission Road. "We are paying to cart away someone else's trash."
