The thief or thieves smashed the glass door in the front of the buidling, then yanked the gate open inside and pulled the ATM out. They dragged the ATM across the grass outside, across the parking lot and made off with it.
Over $4,000 was thought to be inside the machine.
Museum officials stock the machine with money every morning and they say not much was taken out the day before the theft, according to police.
There are no surveillance camera images available so investigators say they are hoping forensic evidence will lead to a suspect.
