A man is in custody in connection with the stabbing of his wife in Vista.
Sheriff's detectives arrested Juan Gonzalez early Tuesday in Menifee, north of Murrieta in Riverside County.
Officials said Gonzalez attacked his wife at First Lutheran Church on the 1400 Block of Foothill Drive around 5:40 p.m. Sunday after a verbal and physical argument began at a nearby apartment.
He then left the area with his two children, ages one and three.
The victim was taken to Palomar Hospital where she was treated and released.
Deputies report that the couple's children were recovered in good condition. Deputies took the children into protective custody and placed them at the Polinsky Center.
Gonzalez was booked at the Vista Detention Faclity for assault with a deadly weapon, felony spousal abuse and felony criminal threats.
