Agencies Respond to Panga Boat Beached Near Sunset Cliffs

The Coast Guard said life jackets were found on the beach

Several agencies responded to a boat that washed ashore near Sunset Cliffs Monday.

News Chopper 7 captured United States Coast Guard (USCG) crews and what may have been U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents descending on the panga boat at about 6 a.m. Monday. San Diego Lifeguards were also on scene.

The USCG found life jackets on the beach. USCG Petty Officer Rob Simpson said it appeared that people brought the boat ashore, took off their life jackets and then fled.

No one was found nearby and no drugs were found on the boat, Simpson said.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents were working to remove the boat from the rocky base of the cliffs.
