Whatever kind of San Diego weather you like you’re probably going to be happy for part of the weekend.
Friday is gorgeous: plenty of sunshine until late afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 60s and maybe even a few low 70s in the warmest valleys. By sunset, however (or shortly thereafter) we're expecting the clouds to move in rapidly as a winter storm approaches from the northwest.
Saturday morning will be partly to mostly cloudy, breezy and possibly wet.
The bulk of the storm is expected to end up east of the mountains. There's a slight chance we could at least squeeze out a little drizzle Saturday morning and maybe even some sprinkles or a few showers. Regardless, even if it stays dry it will be cloudy, breezy and much cooler as temperatures could drop as much as 10 degrees from Friday’s highs.
The front is a quick mover and high pressure will redevelop very quickly overnight.
There may be a few leftover clouds Sunday morning but they won't last as high pressure takes over, brings back the sun and adds in some heat. Sunday afternoon should see highs in upper 60s to upper 70s with a little wind coming out of the mountains and below the passes.
Then Monday and Tuesday the high really intensifies bringing a real late-winter heat wave to San Diego County. On those days we're expecting beach highs to be well into the 70s and maybe even hit 80 downtown. In the East County we'll see 80s and maybe even a 90 before the heat breaks on Wednesday or Thursday.
