Your Guide to Decide: 2012 Mayoral Race Coverage

A look at the current and upcoming coverage of the 2012 elections

Elections for San Diego's next mayor are around the corner. This year's race is tight, with four major candidates already competing for the city's votes.

NBC San Diego has been following the race and will continue to bring coverage of all the issues and candidates to help voters decide this year.

The primary election will be held June 5, 2012. The general election will be held November 6, 2012.

We'll be hosting two debates with the "Big Four" candidates: Bob Filner, Bonnie Dumanis, Carl DeMaio and Nathan Fletcher.

The debates on Monday, April 23 and Sunday, May 20 will be moderated by NBC 7 San Diego anchors Mark Mullen and Catherine Garcia. Longtime NBC 7 San Diego political reporter Gene Cubbison will lead a panel of journalists from NBC San Diego and our Media Partner, the Voice of San Diego.

In addition to our day-to-day coverage of the mayoral race, Gene Cubbison will host a weekly show covering the election and candidates called Politically Speaking.

The show will begin Sunday, March 4, right after Meet the Press at 9 a.m. and will feature guest interviews, debates, political analysis, commentary, political news and features from around San Diego and beyond.

We’ll be posting the show’s segments on our election page, so check back here to stay informed before you hit the voting booths this summer and fall.

Also, Gene will be asking for viewer participation through NBC San Diego's Facebook and Twitter.

In the meantime, check out our Decision 2012 feature page. Along with news from this year's presidential race, we'll post all local political coverage, including exclusive web and broadcast stories. There, you can also read up on all the candidates in the race on our candidate bio section.
