Woman Suffers Possible Brain Hemorrhage Aboard Cruise Ship

A San Diego-based U.S. Coast Guard crew rescued a 31 year-old woman who may have been suffering a brain hemorrhage while cruising.

The woman was aboard the Star Princess, which was about 200 miles off the coast when the call came in to the U.S. Coast Guard crew.

Personnel contacted the Coast Guard late Wednesday afternoon and a helicopter was dispatched once the vessel was in range.

The woman was transported from the ship into a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter, then taken to the Coast Guard Sector in San Diego, where an ambulance crew was waiting.

Ambulance crews then transported her to Sharp Memorial Hospital, Coast Guard officials said.
